New Equipment for Rural Clinics
The Ministry of Healthcare has launched centralized refitting and replacement of old equipment of district medical establishments. Recently, upgrading of maternity complexes has been completed, and new equipment in the branches of emergency medical care is there to be installed.
Teams of district health associations of the country will remember the 2009 as the year when they got complete medical equipment of the latest generation for maternity complexes: new obstetric chair, infant incubators, equipment for surgery rooms and intensive care rooms and everything necessary to assist women giving birth by the state-of-the-art technologies.
“We have received improved models of equipment. For example, infant incubators and anesthesia and respiratory devices operate in automatic mode,” says Gulsara Bekchanova, head of maternity complex of Qo’shko’pir district of Khorazm region. “All this is perfect addition to the skill of regional specialists, whose professional level allows us to handle the most difficult deliveries. For example, the famous case of 2006, birth of Siamese twins Komiljonovs. They were born in our maternity complex, district obstetricians Ruzmet Saidov and Sharofat Atajanova were assisting the delivery. Our specialists also observed their mother’s pregnancy, which proceeded with serious complications, and carried out post-natal care for the mother and babies before they were sent to have a surgery in the Republican Specialized Surgery Center named after Vahidov.
Already in the first months of the new year there will be equipping of district branch centers for emergency medical aid. Almost all regions are prepared to install new equipment.
“In addition to the existing equipment, we will obtain ultrasound machines, endoscopes, new surgical tables and tools, as well as resuscitation kits, including latest anesthesia and respiratory devices. All this will greatly improve the quality of medical care,” says Fazliddin Uzoqov, head of the district medical association of Peshku district of Bukhoro region.
According to experts of the Ministry of Healthcare, projects for the procurement of equipment for other divisions of district medical associations will be implemented in the next four years. Thus, as early as 2014, district hospitals will be equipped with latest technologies.
“We hope that these projects will allow us to introduce new ways of providing health care in various directions of medicine,” shared Tabassum Ruzmetova, chief of the district medical association of Hojayli district of Karaklpakstan. “We not only have specialists who are ready to provide medical care for the most common diseases that require urgent intervention. We also carry out planned surgeries. For example, our medical association is one of the three institutions in Karakalpakstan where operations to replace the lens with cataract are conducted. Even people from neighboring districts come to us to get such treatment.”
