Why Uzbekistan?  

Natural and raw material resources of Uzbekistan

• More than 2800 fields and perspective ingresses of minerals, about 100 types of mineral raw materials among which 65 are used in industry and agriculture are found in the Republic.  

• The Republic of Uzbekistan possesses an extensive mineral resources base and large prospects for increasing it, has real capacities for raising the country's economy at the expense of further build-up of developed resources and extraction of underground resources. Of three thousand discovered deposits and showings of various mineral resources over than 60 are already being used in the national economy.

• About 1000 fields including fields of oil, gas and condensate, precious, non-ferrous, ferrous and radioactive metals, coal, mining and mining chemical feedstock, construction materials for various purposes, fresh and mineral subsurface water were prospected. For now only 45 % of the prospected fields are put into operation. The total mineral and raw material potential of the country is equal to approximately US $ 3,5 trillion. 

• More than 440 mines, pits, open pits, oil and gas mines, plants etc. operate on the basis of prepared resources in the Republic 

• Uzbekistan is the 9th largest world producer of gold, 2nd among 15 former Soviet republics, and also the biggest producer of gold per capital. 

• Navoi mining-and-metallurgical integrated works (NMMIW) until 2012 is planning to invest into development of uranium production 165 million US dollars, informed us a source in the leadership of the Navoi mining-and-metallurgical integrated works. "Expansion of functioning extracting and processing capacities of uranium production, construction of new underground mines with disbursement of 165 million US dollars of investments will allow by 2012 to increase the production and export of uranium up to 1.5 times as compared with 2006." - said a representative of the enterprise. According to him, it is envisaged by a programme of modernization, technical and technological re-equipment of the plant for the period from 2007 to 2012 years.
